Mildew: Using a sprayer, brush or roller to apply commercial deck cleaner/brightener to the surface. Wait several minutes, and then brush briskly with a stiff brush or broom. Rinse with garden hose. Some cleaners may contain acids or chlorine which can harm plants; always read label.
Candle Wax: Saturate rag with mineral spirits. Set rag on dried wax until it absorbs the wax. You may rub gently.
BBQ Stains (including grease and sauce): Scrub with strong household detergent or water-rinseable automotive degreaser or carburetor cleaner. Rinse area before it dries. If found immediately, use 30 Minute All Purpose Cleaner.
Rust: Apply solution of water and 5% oxalic acid to the stain. Let it stand for several minutes, rinse.
Leaf Stains: Spot-scrub the area with 1 to 1 solution of household bleach and water.
Green Algae or Moss: These are difficult stains to remove and will often reappear once roots form in the wood, but you can temporarily eliminate them by scrubbing with a solution of 4 parts bleach to 1 part water.
Tree Sap: Scrape excess material with putty knife or steel wool. Wipe with turpentine.
Food, grease, oil, lipstick, blood, coffee, juice, feces: Use 30 Minute All Purpose Cleaner and all purpose cleaner, along with a stiff brush or broom as soon as possible. Don't skimp.
Paint and Candle Wax on Patio: Remove as much as possible with putty knife. Scrub area with metal-bristled brush and mineral spirits.
