Stains and Spills PDF  | Print |

Mildew: Using a sprayer, brush or roller to apply commercial deck cleaner/brightener to the surface. Wait several minutes, and then brush briskly with a stiff brush or broom. Rinse with garden hose. Some cleaners may contain acids or chlorine which can harm plants; always read label.

Candle Wax: Saturate rag with mineral spirits. Set rag on dried wax until it absorbs the wax. You may rub gently.

BBQ Stains (including grease and sauce): Scrub with strong household detergent or water-rinseable automotive degreaser or carburetor cleaner. Rinse area before it dries. If found immediately, use 30 Minute All Purpose Cleaner.

Rust: Apply solution of water and 5% oxalic acid to the stain. Let it stand for several minutes, rinse.

Leaf Stains: Spot-scrub the area with 1 to 1 solution of household bleach and water.

Green Algae or Moss: These are difficult stains to remove and will often reappear once roots form in the wood, but you can temporarily eliminate them by scrubbing with a solution of 4 parts bleach to 1 part water.

Tree Sap: Scrape excess material with putty knife or steel wool. Wipe with turpentine.

Food, grease, oil, lipstick, blood, coffee, juice, feces: Use 30 Minute All Purpose Cleaner and all purpose cleaner, along with a stiff brush or broom as soon as possible. Don't skimp.

Paint and Candle Wax on Patio: Remove as much as possible with putty knife. Scrub area with metal-bristled brush and mineral spirits.

30 Minute Solution PDF  | Print |

Window Cleaner and All Purpose Cleaner. Cuts grease and dries before it streaks.

  • 2 Cups Isopropyl Alcohol (Rubbing)
  • 1/2 Cup Household Ammonia
  • 1 Tsp. Any Brand Liquid Dish Soap
  • 12 - 16 Cups Hot Water

Mix alcohol, ammonia, and dish soap in a bucket and add the hot water. Fill 2 spray bottles with solution before you begin cleaning your windows. Keep one bottle for the kitchen and one for the bathroom.

For Window Cleaning: Start with the interior windows using a sponge squeegee (like the ones used at gas stations). Once inside windows are finished, do the outsides.
